Kauai is obviously one of the most stunning places on this planet - a true “heaven on earth”. It’s known as Hawaii’s “Garden Island” and it is so true, especially on the north shore. It’s covered in this beautiful lush green jungle which is a dream to see, and an absolute honor to capture in a photo.
When Thuy reached out about potentially picking this location for their engagement photos while they were on vacation on the island, I was ecstatic. It’s my favorite Hawaiian island and I’ll jump on any chance I can to go back! Some of my favorite food, hikes, and views in the whole world are on this island. I love this list of Kauai Recommendations by my videographer friend, Kennidy!
Being on vacation has its own benefits to your photoshoot. Being in a good mentality going into your photoshoot actually shows up in the photos so much more than you’d think. I always suggest that my clients do whatever they need to do to make sure they’re in a good place mentally before their shoot - whether that’s something to calm down, loosen up, or get hyped - a pre-shoot ritual is key! Vacation-mode is an excellent state of mind for a photoshoot! lol. We were able to mess around, have fun together, make a little cheers over their hawaiian beers, chat about how much we loved Kauai, and bask in it’s green glory while taking some the best engagement photos I think I’ve ever taken.
